Hi valued subscribers to Your Life Caddy,
It’s been 6 months since you’ve heard from me. That silence wasn’t accidental – i’ve been wrestling with a question: How do i serve leaders like you better than random blog posts?
You subscribed to Life Caddy because you were interested in practical strategies for creating a more balanced, intentional life. i took some time away from regular blogging to dive deep into new ways to serve people like you – and i’m excited to share what i’ve been working on . . . and the dry gullies i wandered down. i hope as you follow this journey, the successes and failures, that you may find insight and inspiration for your own.
The Problem i Was Facing
i found myself with 50 odd blogs written in response to caddying and people’s burning issues. But they just sat there. i was being pulled by what could better help people. Random blogs were not enough.
What i Tried (and What Failed)
So i leaned into deep listening to others, continued to gather their burning issues and considered better tools. It resulted in the Life Caddy Minute – short three-minute podcasts delivered daily. i scripted 80 of these, recorded five and took them back to my feedback group.
And that was tough. The process revealed i was jumping from my posture of being a real and authentic help to people to trying to broaden my influence. i came to realise the best course of action was to maintain an organic development process. Help those i am helping . . . better
What i Learned
So i returned to deepen my listening to those in the caddying loop. The website was reshaped. A series of surveys were developed – for emerging professionals and for leaders of organisations.
The results reveal deep issues and a significant gap between what emerging professionals need and what their leaders think they need. The next step was to close this gap and develop tools that would support individual growth.
Want to see where you land on these issues? Reply with ‘SURVEY’ and i’ll send you the assessment that’s shaping these insights.
Where We’re Going
There were several people i caddied who were struggling with losing confidence. An anchor blog and rebuilding confidence program was developed and resourced. If confidence loss is hitting close to home for you or your team right now, the recovery module is live: https://yourlifecaddy.com/blog-65-how-to-spot-confidence-loss-in-your-team-before-they-quit/
The next step is to develop tools to support strategic thinking. The surveys have clearly revealed an urgency for support around this topic, and so the caddy heads into developing programs, identifying resources and support mechanisms to meet this need. Watch this space.
What to Expect from Field Notes
Blogs will continue to be written intermittently in response to the needs of the people i caddy, but each month this Field Notes for Leaders email will land in your inbox. Each month, i’ll share one insight from the survey data and the tool we’re building to address it. You’ll have a front row seat into the development of resources, blogs . . . and maybe even podcasts down the track.
As a subscriber, i welcome you onto the bus. You’ll observe the growth of the caddying concept and gain insight along the journey. You’ll see the wrong turns first hand (like those 80 podcasts) but also be inspired by the stories of success as they’re gathered.
And as always, hit subscribe (or e mail feedback@yourlifecaddy.com) with what’s on your mind – your burning issues shape where the caddy goes next.
Thank you for staying connected. To next month . . .
