Blog 19:  Reap what you sow.  How little things can make a big difference . . . motivating yourself through results – PART 4

This series has focused on how the implementation of small habits can realise great outcomes.  The small orange cog (your habits) can move the big blue cog (your outcomes).  Small seeds sown can reap a large harvest.  There are two parts to this blog to finish our series on ‘Reap what you Sow’.  One is the capturing of results and the other is the role of significant others in your success journey.  But before we enter these two important aspects, let’s just recap on the engineered process we have been building to ensure that you can reap what you sow.

While i have provided a linear diagram to help you see the journey we have been on.  What your are actually building looks more like the diagram of those two cogs at the start of this blog.  So let’s get into the two shaded steps that are the focus of this blog (the last two).

Let the math speak!

You have identified the small habits that will realise significant results.  You are implementing them regularly (ACTION) with a confidence that these habits done regularly will gain the results you want.  Think of it like knowing that if you can keep depositing $100 a week, you’ll have $5 200 by the end of the year (and the interest will kick that figure higher).  Your cadence of accountability will help you monitor how you are going as your bank statement will show those $100 deposits.  Sowly, your balance reads $800, then $2 000, then $4 000, then $5 000. Keep that monitoring front and centre.  These are the RESULTS that will drive your MOTIVATION.  You can have confidence that if you continue these actions (depositing money), all be it small, you will gain the outcomes you desire.  The MOTIVATION stems from the small RESULTS, which derive from small ACTIONS.

Look at this month’s Story of Success (July ’23).  CV took the small step of arriving at work 30 minutes early and it produced significant results in the rest of her life.  The RESULTS drove the MOTIVATION, but it all started with an ACTION . . . just turning up to work early once a week. 

So, your cadence of accountability needs to be set up so it speaks to you about your small successes.  Whether you use an excel sheet, an app or simply a tally sheet – have something to check whether you are successfully exercising your habits.  It will drive your motivation.

Significant others:  

There will be people around you who are interested and supportive of your success.  It may be your partner or family, friends or work colleagues.  It may be your upline.  Maybe it’s your caddy or coach.  Sharing your journey will not just consolidate your actions (there is something about having to articulate the learning journey we have been on with this blog series), it will build in another level of accountability as you share your targets and habits with them.  Who can go on this journey with you?  Who is on your team?  You’ll inspire them as you apply yourself to continued improvement.

And that brings us to the end of the Reap what you Sow series.  Have confidence in the method you have developed while maintaining a curiosity to ensure continual improvement of your processes. Think of this series like having engineered a machine.  A machine where you put small habits in and deliver significant outcomes at the other end.  A machine with contains accountability measures and the input of those supporting you.
